About the Bands

The Anthony Wayne School District is located in Northwest Ohio and includes the communities of Monclova, Waterville, and Whitehouse. The district has been recognized for the excellence of its schools. The district has a total enrollment of approximately 4500 students housed in six school buildings. About 500 students participate in the band program in grades 5-12.

Fallen Timbers Middle School

Band instruction begins in the fifth grade where students meet in two heterogeneous classes two times per week. In sixth grade the students meet three times per week (two times in sectional rehearsals and one full band.)

Anthony Wayne Junior High

Both the Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands meet daily for 42 minute periods. The Junior High Band program includes an after school jazz band. The 7th and 8th Grade Bands both participate in OMEA Large Group and Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events.

Anthony Wayne High School

At Anthony Wayne High School, the band students meet in three ensembles, concert band, symphonic band, and symphonic winds. There are approximately 165 students involved in the band program at the high school. Students audition for each band in the Spring for membership in an ensemble for the following year. Each year the concert bands and symphonic band participate in the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Adjudicated Event, and individual students participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events. Students may also participate in Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Musical Pit Band.The Anthony Wayne Marching Generals is comprised of all the high school band students and numbers approximately 165 members. The Marching Generals are known for their “high stepping” style of marching and their unique uniforms modeled after the Revolutionary War General “Mad” Anthony Wayne. The Generals perform at all Anthony Wayne football games, many local parades, and other civic events. Past performances have included The Indianapolis 500 Parade, The Magic Kingdom Share a Dream Come True Parade, The Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, The America’s Thanksgiving Parade, and the London New Year’s Day Parade. The Anthony Wayne Band Program receives continued support from both the school administration and from an active band booster organization.
